Math rocks.

Disclaimer: Major (and I mean MAJOR) geekiness follows.

Today was the start of the best math unit EVER. We started trig identities today. Those who know what I'm talking about either know what I mean or just think I'm crazy for liking it so much. Probably more of the latter, I guess, but I don't care. For those who don't know what it is, it's using different trigonometric (sine, cosine, tangent) ratios, simplifying them and manipulating them in different ways. For example:

sin x = tan x
cos x

but it gets a lot crazier than that. We did proofs today, which at first, I thought would suck, because I remember proofs in Grade 9 geometry, which was saying some statement and giving a reason why. However, it's different here, simply because you take an identity (like the one above, except more complex, the one above is a fundemental one and for this unit, we have to commit to memory), break both sides into a t-chart, and work them out until they show the same thing. And to me, it's awesome. Say what you want. I don't care.(warning: offensive comments may be deleted and commenters will have their fingers cut off by yours truly. I know where all of you live. I can see you right now.)Sometimes I end up thinking after a question: "That shouldn't work, but it does! What the heck? This rocks!" or "How did I do that?" and it feels SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

Now all I need is a life...

2 days to go.

Offensive comments, eh?

Wow, you're such a dork for liking Math 12. I mean, Calculus is, like df(x)/dx 5x+4 times cooler, at least.

But anyways, on a serious note, I feel the exact same way about proofs you do. Like, every single thing you said about them. Of all my practice provincial exams, I think I did maybe 3 (out of 7 or 8) of them, but I did all the proofs. Wow, all this time I thought I was the only one...

I know where you live... XD

This is also coming from someone that actually buys those magazines full of crossword puzzles and word games on magazine shelves. Only, this time it's with math, so I don't need a good vocabulary. This is right up my alley, and it's great.
