School Christmas concert

has come and gone for us.

Concert Band went fairly well. I only messed up on a few notes. Nothing drastic, just mistakes trying to read tuba music one octave higher.

Jazz Band went really well. Get this: our bass player, who I mentioned before could be putting in a little more effort into the class, called in sick for the concert, so I played bass. Well, except for the one song that is really meant for guitar, which I kept on. The solo in it went well; I've had better, but I was aiming more for playability rather then complexity. Playing bass also went well, at least for such short notice. I screwed up in some of the tough spots, only because I haven't practiced it at all. No biggie, though. No one seemed to notice.

In the end, it was a good concert, and I got a lot of good comments about my playing. Woohoo.

Oh, and on Wednesday I get to miss half a day of school to go to Granville Island and see A Twisted Christmas Carol. It's the Dickens (I think) classic combined with a lot of comedy, especially improv. It's going to rock.
