Some info: The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a group that writes rock operas. Therefore, there is a story that goes with the music. You appreciate it a lot more if you follow the story while you're listening. Pause if you need to.
Beethoven's Last Night: Really good. My favorite of the two I got.
Pros:
- Awesome story. Beethoven meets the devil and they discuss his 10th Symphony. (he only wrote nine) It's really interesting.
- Good vocal tracks. You appreciate it a lot more if you follow along with the story as well. However, sometimes you just want to get to the next song as fast as possible.
- The classical meets electric guitar songs are really, really good, and if anything, you should get this CD for that.
- Not enough of the classical meets electric guitar songs. After all, that's the reason I bought the CD.
- Fur Elise was a disappointment. It's just a shortened piano version, not what I expected at all.
Overall: A must get, unless you have little patience or a short attention span. Even then, the classical stuff will get you. 9/10, simply for lack of awesome songs.
The Lost Christmas Eve: Not as good as what I expected it to be, but still good nonetheless.
Pros:
- See above. Different story, though. It's about an angel sent to NY on Christmas Eve. The story is really beautiful, though
- Again, see above.
- Not enough Christmas songs.
- Biggest disappointment: No Carol of the Bells, but that's because it was on another CD, and I didn't know they had 3.
edit: Swap the two tracks. The more I listen to What Child is This, the more I love it.
Overall: Good, but not perfect. Not enough Christmas and classical, too much rock. Still, 8/10.
