GP5!

Well, now that I've had time to play with it for a while, I think it's awesome.

However, there is one major drawback to it, and it's not the program's fault. Our computer is too slow to run more than two tracks with the awesome soundfont stuff. Of course, this computer was top of the line at one point - in Grade 7, I think. sigh... I guess I just have to wait for the Mac version in May.

That being said, there's way more to GP5 than just an awesome sound. I got good quality sheet music PDF'd for the combo group, something I've been waiting forever to do. Other additions, like codas, 8va and 8vb, wah-wah, even a new jingle make it all the worthwhile. And they finally put in one thing I've been wishing since GP3, when I discovered Guitar Pro - the ability to move tracks up and down so that you can organize them a little.

The one thing I wish they kept was the ability to customize colors. Now I'm forced to look at black and white compared to the yellow and blue (it's got a parchment-and-ink kind of color scheme; the yellow is a lot softer than pure yellow)

So, yeah, if you have a fast computer, get this software. If you don't, well, you can always use only MIDI instead of the super awesome sound fonts they have. And the download's way smaller.
