Small rant about iTunes.

It's a great service, but man, Apple doesn't like Canadians.

Their music store, to be more specific. The Canadian music store has pretty much every song that everybody's heard of. But then you get a bit more obscure.

I was looking through the iTunes Essentials stuff from both stores. Remember Rockapella? That accapella group that did the Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego song from way back when. It turns out they did way more than just that song and I was looking at some of their albums in the American store and was listening to the preview tracks. Those guys rock. Check them out.

Anyway, my point is, after returning to the Canadian store and searching for them, they don't exist. Why doesn't Apple just make their entire store available worldwide? I realize copyright laws are different between countries, but do they have to be so different that certain groups get left out? As another example, one iTunes Essentials group in the American store is Christian Rock/Pop. Non-existent in the Canadian one, and a quick search for Casting Crowns brought pretty much zilcho. Yet Christian Country exists in both stores. Dang you, Apple!

Anyway, I'm done, I guess.

It's a copyright thing. Copyright laws are really complicated. It varies a lot from country to country. So much that Apple may be forced to shut down the iTunes music store in France (I haven't been following this story, so I don't know what the outcome was, or if there even was an outcome yet)
