Okay, something I thought started tomorrow started today. It's essentially a one-week thing where you do a bunch of (organized) crazy stuff. A bunch of people got their heads partially shaved. Don't worry, guys, I'm not one of those people.
And I actually met someone I liked today. She's on my team for Frosh (dunno if she's Christian or not, but definitely interesting) and is one of the few people on campus (supposedly) that hates alcohol as much as I do. That and she made a physics joke during lunch that I would normally make if I weren't so tired. Crazy, huh? She's really nice and energetic, though she has a bunch of crazy ideas sometimes. (that's okay, I kinda like that in a person) And no, I don't like her in that kind of way. Just as a friend. ;)
Oh, and apparently there's a mandatory building meeting at 8 tonight. This is fine and all, but Sunago starts at 7:30. I think I know what the meeting's about (there was a huge party that got way out of hand in my building last night), so I may be able to get out of it if I talk to the dorm supervisor beforehand. We'll see.

Good to hear that you've made some friends! I know that for me, talking to new people is really intimidating (and kinda of not my thing, I'd rather be approached). Funny thing is that I'm making friends too. Since I have some of the same classmates in both Chem and Bio, I've gotten to talk to them and they're wanting to form a study group as well.
On another note, I'm really itching to meet more Christian ppl on campus. So far, I've only met one guy who seems to be pretty passionate about his faith. At least I know there's ppl out there who aren't just interested in drinking and partying.
You're very fortunate to find a Christian group so soon. The clubs over here don't start until the 3rd week of Sept, so I have to wait a while:(
Wow, this is turning out to be a long comment. I'll email you more in a couple days.
Yeah, talking to people can be intimidating. I'm surprised I've been able to do it myself. UVic's interesting because so many people aren't from Victoria that a good question to ask is "Where are you from?" and it works great for breaking the ice. It doesn't work so well over there with it being all local and stuff, but a lot of the time, just saying hi and introducing yourself is good. It'll get better when the clubs start, because you can find someone that has the same interests as you. Good luck.
It took me a few days, but I'm glad that I'm starting to find those people, too, who actually come to the university to study.
Actually, when I showed up last night, people were wondering how I knew about it so quickly because most of them didn't know there were posters out there. It was kinda funny.
On an unrelated note, you're the first person that I know that commented on this blog that isn't Joel. Have a cookie. :)
And I betcha my comment is longer. :P
