The weekend went really well. So many cool things happened.
I got back Friday night, and Saturday, a bunch of us down here (including a friend at U of Alberta here for the weekend) partied it out for the afternoon. It was really cool.
Tuesday I got to pick up my Passport to Education and visit some old teachers. It was fun coming back.
But the coolest thing this weekend happened today. I got my own Chicken Soup for the Soul story. I got up and left the house at 5 AM to catch the 7am boat (no other good time) only to find out later that due to the bad weather, the 7am and 9am boats were cancelled, and the 11 was looking really iffy. Chances are, the boats wouldn't be running till later this afternoon, which left me stranded at Tsawassen for a while. To top things off, my applications folder on my computer seems to have vanished.
(a little aside: I found out what happened to my laptop. The CD drive is completely unusable and needs replacing. But with an important folder vanishing, there might be more than I think. I was able to salvage the most important thing on there and put it on my external hard drive (my iTunes folder), and the rest is mostly backed up. All I know is that it's gonna be costly to fix, though)
Anyway, it turns out that there was someone from Abby trying to get to Victoria to drop a bursary application off at the last minute but with the way things were going, it probably wasn't going to happen. She actually offered to give me a ride home. Now, I was kinda nervous taking a ride from a complete stranger, but I took it and I'm here now. Turns out she used to go to Central Heights and knew the worship leader really well. Despite getting a bit lost, we had a lot of fun getting back. It was just so cool the way things worked out because I thought I'd be in a huge pickle for a while. I just prayed hoping that things would turn out well in the end and kept some of that optimism that I try and give other people, and look where that took me. God is amazing, isn't He?
So, yes, this means I'm home for a bit longer. I'm either gonna take a late ferry tonight or sometime tomorrow (I only have one class and I can afford to miss it). But I'm just happy I'm home and not at Tsawassen right now.
