I got to try out an In the Groove 2 machine the other day. Castle Fun Park finally got one and it's right next to the DDR machine. For those that don't know, In the Groove is pretty much DDR (in fact, the code is pretty much an edit of Stepmania), but made by different people. It's really a lot of fun, and an improvement from DDR, for several reasons. One is that the machines have built in flash drive support, so you can save profiles on them and take them from machine to machine. What's also really cool is that if you have a flash drive, you can put some Stepmania songs on it and play it on the machine as well.
There are some awesome songs in the game, too, and according to Joel, the steps are a lot better in the way they are written. I don't really notice much of a difference, but he's probably right. Oh, and on the machine here, the ITG equivalent of Joint Premium is on, which pretty much means you can play Double (1 player, both pads) for the same price as Single. Turns out I can play Double if my life depended on it, but I'm only about a 5-footer (on ITG, which would probably be about a 6 in DDR) compared to my 8.5-ish (in DDR) on Single. It's still a lot of fun.
