I hit a DDR milestone last night.

But first, a little bit of backstory.

Rewind to a little over five years ago. It was my first time ever playing DDR. I sucked. Pretty much all of the bad habits that beginners had, I did. But I liked it enough to want to do it again sometime.

Fast forward to two and a half years ago. I hadn't really done much DDR since then, just the occasional play when I saw a machine, and I think I failed on the first song anyway, when someone brings it to a party. I refused to play at first, thinking I still sucked from back then, but eventually , I got a game in. And that's when I realized that I didn't have those bad habits anymore, and could beat a song on Light fairly easily. Excited about this, I did everything in my power to get a home version for myself, and that Christmas, my dream came true. After spending the majority of Christmas that day playing with it, I started to beat songs on Standard, and eventually Heavy after a few days until I could get about 6-foot songs (note, the difficulty goes from 1 to 10) beaten. I started going to Castle Fun Park to play on the arcade machine there, which was a big step up for me.

Eventually, though, I had thought I had peaked. I managed to stick around the 8-9-foot range, and I was usually exhausted after one song. Well, last night, that changed. I guess the biking to work did something to me, because I beat songs like Candy*, Tsugaru, and even Can't Stop Falling in Love (Speed Mix), which I had never passed before, easily. So, I took my game up another notch.

I beat my first ten-footer last night. And it wasn't Bag.

Okay, so it wasn't a Max, it was Sakura, which is a bit easier. But it still counts. w00t!
