I got home last night (barely) after finding out my computer was delivered last night. When I say barely, it means that not only did I just make the boat (the difference between the time I found out and the time I left was ten minutes, with a one hour wait at a bus stop), but my dad, on a business trip to the island, just made his boat as well, and we met down at Tsawassen.
Anyway, the new Mac is awesome. I've already opened it (in fact, I'm using it right now) while keeping as much of the original packaging on it as I can (including the plastic sticker thing in front of the screen to protect it, which kinda screws up the screen. Right now, the best thing is that it's fast. Quicksilver does not take a second for the window to pop up and a few seconds to search through the records to find what you want; it happens instantly. Most graphics-heavy flash does not lag nearly as much anymore. It's great. I really like the new keyboard. It's pretty much a regular keyboard with MacBook keys (and yes, it is that thin), and it works really well. For some reason, typing feels a lot faster on this thing. I can't wait to get it back to Victoria, where my guitar (I bought a cable to connect the guitar to the computer the other day, and if anything, being able to properly record (with Garageband!) is one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to on the Mac) and external hard drive await.
Oh, and now that I have a second computer, I was debating naming the iMac and the laptop. Yes, I'm that much of a nerd. I thought of a good one for the laptop, though. It's old, it's a bit slow, it's annoying to use a few times, and while it's still really useful (notably, it's portable), if there's any other alternative, I'd probably use that instead. Therefore, I'm probably gonna name the laptop Tingle. I dunno about the iMac, though.
