Well, I was home last weekend to pick up our van (for moving out purposes) and I'm back today (alive, which is amazing considering I've never driven onto the ferry all by myself), and now I've got a daunting few days ahead of me. I've got what I consider to be my hardest exam come Wednesday, and the guy that was supposed to call me for the house hasn't gotten back to me yet, so I'm starting on a plan B right now; finding stuff for myself. It's a good thing UVic has their own listings for off campus housing (that I completely forgot about until today) otherwise I'd be in really deep water. I'm looking at at least one place tomorrow; it's for room and board, the rent is decent ($725 a month, which isn't bad considering I'm making $2500 a month before taxes, and it comes somewhat furnished and with utilities, wireless internet, and cable) and it's a bike ride away from campus, which means I don't have to rely on the bus system (which isn't to say the buses aren't bad here; they're much better than Abby's). There's also some other stuff I'm considering. I'd prefer a bachelor suite, but I'll take what I can get right now.
I'm done Wednesday, but I might have to go back on my promise that I'll be home that day. There's still a lot to account for coming up. I've got till the end of the week to find something, which isn't much time, but it's still very doable.
update: I knew the call would come eventually. Dave finally called me a few minutes ago and I'm checking the place that I'd be living in sometime soon. I was panicking about it, but it worked out in the end. I'm pretty sure I've got a place to live now. Yay!
