Okay, despite being busy with a ton of stuff (a grand total of SIX assignments due the upcoming week o_O), I'm actually having a lot of fun with some of the stuff I'm doing right now. SENG 271, a software design course, focuses on test-driven development (aka running small tests as you go to make sure your code works right) but the project is going to be awesome, as it involves working with Wiimotes somehow. I'm getting excited about that one already. Second best part of the class is the lab section. 20 people signed up for the Tuesday lab session. One signed up for the Thursday lab session. Tuesday I'm busy with Sunago stuff. Now, since that was announced, the Thursday lab session attendance has doubled, but it's still really awesome.
Also, I've got the best project ever for SENG 310, a user interface design class. We're allowed to pick a project and prototype it. We don't have to actually design it, but we do have to make a prototype somehow of the interface. It doesn't necessarily have to be implementable, neither by us nor at all, but we need some idea of the interface. With that being said, our group has the best project ever. We've decided that we're going to design the interface for a theoretical time machine. Again, no one said it had to be implementable, or possible for that matter. And yes, we've already got the topic approved, so we're in the clear for that. We're doing user studies right now, but all I can say is that the end result is going to be awesome.
The rest of the classes feel like normal school fare. I've got a class on algorithms and data structures (mostly theory, not much programming), an economics course (think high school math with interest and stuff, it's pretty much that except a bit harder), a course in discrete math (more proofs! yay!) and a course in digital signal processing (which would be a lot better if the prof were easier to understand, the only reason I'm getting by is because it's based off a course I'm already taking). Some of it's hard, some of it's not, and a lot of it really makes you think. It's hard, but in a way, it's kinda fun, I guess.
