computer woes

Okay, I think there's something up with my hard drive as well. I can't seem to write anything to it very well. This sucks. It's probably gonna have to be replaced, too. This really sucks.

If you end up replaceing the whole computer and can afford it, get a Macbook. Not only is it awesome, but it's got the sudden motion sensor so if you drop it, it shouldn't damage the hard drive (I don't know if it's also made to protect other components as well, but I wouldn't be too surprised).

Except, don't get a Macbook, because it would make me incredibly jealous.

By the way, if you need to recover your data and can't do it through Finder, you can use Firewire Target Mode. I had to do this when my hard drive got corrupted. You need someone else with a Mac for it, but what you do is hook the two computers up with a firewire cable, and hold "T" as you boot yours up (at least, I think it was T though I may be wrong). It'll boot into firewire target mode, where your computer basically acts as an external hard drive to the other computer.

Of course, it's quite possible you either A) won't need to use this, or B) already know this. I'm just saying it in case you don't.

One problem - I can't afford it. Even my chequing account - which has a bit of scholarship money along with what my parents send me - doesn't have enough. This would be a wonderful excuse to upgrade, but I just don't have the money.

Anyway, I'll try that, but I'm gonna see what the problems are first.
